Oh, holy heck, is this story hot. I mean, HOT. A bunch of hot, alpha, cyborg males called the Monrok killed the prince that created them. Some of the Monrok were able to get women at that point and they all fled to settle their own planet. Some Monrok went looking for the Zapex king. He was keeping human pets on his ship. The human women have never known any other life than being one of his pets, having been bred for it. The king is dead, but one female Zapexan made sure to save the women, as well as herself, because it had been foreseen that they would be owned by Monrok.

Unlike the other Monrok stories, this one is much more hardcore. But, definitely worth reading. And then rereading. There is an HEA, not your traditional HEA, but it is there. And frankly, the pets aren't going to be able to have the same kind of HEA as the other stories would because being a pet is literally all they have known, so the HEA fits with their story and their narrative.

Another good book in this series

I really enjoy reading this series. The books are pretty quick and easy reads which are also really hot. Great combo. I really want more in this series and its spinoffs.

Aubrey Cara has joined the Night of... set with her Monrok. Since most of those books are already a menage, it's not far to go to a reverse harem setting.

The Monrok were human, but were modified from their birth and turned into the ultimate cyborg warriors. They were created by the Zapex, but they managed to kill their creator and escape. The Galactic Council decided to declare the Monrok free, but mostly because they want to have the Monrok as allies in case something happens. Most of the Monrok are settling their own planet, others are out searching for their own human women to mate with.

Banx, Ast, Jor, and Tawn are 4 Monrok warriors who have been a tight unit for decades. They are out exploring and are told that there is going to be something at an auction that they are going to want to see, so they go. What they see is Sana.

Sana is a Zapex female. She's a lower caste woman called a veran. They are generally used as concubines. They are also generally seers. Sana's master's honored mate beat the living crap out of her, and her friend Pippen helped her escape. He told Sana to be brave and trust her fate, and to make it to the council so she can tell them what she knows. But, she got sidetracked and ended up on a slaver's auction stage to be sold. The Monrok warriors know that she is theirs and take her away.

This story fits in quite well with the rest of the Monrok universe. It advances that overall storyline, but it can be read completely as a standalone because there's enough history in it to get what's going on. I think of all the guys, Jor is my favorite, even though he seems like he would be the hardest to deal with. I think that's because I can see how much he cares for Sana even if he doesn't want to at the start. She's good for him. I hope we see more of this group in later books.
