I have celiac disease and could relate to many of the pitfalls and obstacles that Campanella describes while guiding her daughter through a gluten-filled world. Kudos to Campanella for becoming such a champion for her daughter's dietary needs. This is an excellent guide for family members who are grappling with a celiac diagnosis, and for skeptics to gain insight and compassion into what is a serious health condition. Campanella includes a handy section with recipes and resources.

In Motherhood: Lost and Found, Ann Campanella recounts a challenging period in her life in which she was caring for her mother with Alzheimer's while attempting to become a mother herself. With refreshing honesty, Campanella shares her mixed emotions of becoming a caregiver and the fear that the stress and uncertainty of the situation could thwart her goal of motherhood. While Campanella doesn't shy away from the struggles of caregiving and infertility, she also shares important life lessons that we can all gain from. As a former family caregiver, I could relate to much of Campanella's story, and I think others will as well.

We are each of us, in varying degrees, in this exact spot in life. Where we watch our parents decline in health while we are cautiously hopeful and optimistic about our own. Where we have our own dreams, desires, anxieties and outright fears while worrying about those of our folks. Where we are are torn...and filled with love at the same time.

Campanella has written her story and graciously shared it with us. A soft beauty of a read.
