Escape to Love is a short story featuring Maria, a young single mother trying to put her years of physical abuse at the hands of her violent partner behind her, along with her young autistic daughter, Lucy. When her daughter is late home one evening, her anxiety is heightened by broadcast news that two prison escapees are on the loose, after a prison officer has been hit over the head and killed. One is a convicted rapist and murderer, the other a fraudster. Her daughter arrives home safely: but one of the escapees also turns up on her doorstep. Which one is he?

I have to be honest, the whole thing is just a tad incredible and unlikely, especially as Maria’s feelings towards the escapee turn to something quite improbable. The writing is rather ‘raw’ and unrefined, the text is riddled with punctuation errors and omissions, and the dialogue is a bit stilted. I think there’s more mileage in the plot which would have made it all a little more believable. And yet, I have to say it’s quite an enjoyable story that you can read in just an hour, and Maria’s emotional confusion over the situation in which she finds herself is well conveyed. The author shows promise: a good developmental and technical editor will buff this shortie to a shine.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This is a short story that takes about an hour or so to read, depending upon your reading speed. The dates on mine look like it took longer but only because life interrupted reading. Because it is a short story and I assume you read the blurb I'm not going into the plot. Instead I will tell you how I related to the story and if it worked for me. Perhaps that will help you decide if it is for you.
The story is written by a British author so the language may feel different for American readers. Being an American, I had no problem with understanding and only had to check one word to verify it was what I thought. If you are reading on a Kindle you can switch the dictionary to English UK if you need to. It is easy peasey and I have used it often with British writers. I have learned quite a few descriptive phrases this way.
I am a survivor of domestic violence. I know how that colors my world and my thinking. I know how it sharpened my instincts. I also have raised a child on the spectrum. I know the quirks of autism. I know how having a special needs child shapes your world. I haven't met a criminal with a bank fraud background and money hidden away but, after reading this book, I'm open to the experience. Haha.
The story worked for me. I'm not one, though, who wants absolute reality in my fictional reading. Pretty much I feel that is what non fiction is for. In fiction I want some reality, yes, but I want to be told a story. I want to be entertained. I want to escape life sometimes. I want to believe for a moment that the impossible, the improbable, the magical can happen. I want my imagination to soar. For me, the author fulfilled that with this book. I felt satisfied with the story as it is yet I could see the potential for it to be fleshed out to novel length. I feel that is a good sign of the authors ability to tell a good story.
I understand this book is part of a series. I am very much interested in reading more in this series to see how it takes shape.

Very good story! There's romance, intrigue, sports, passion and deceit. Female cop gets involved with pro boxer and the heat is on! Not my usual cup of tea but I enjoyed this.

This was quite a ride! Private yachts, private jets, limos, personal shoppers, gourmet meals. What's not to like? Oh yeah, the killing and running from the law, the secrecy, the terror! But wait, there's also a gorgeous guy and HOT sex!! So what's a lowly traffic cop to do? She's been tasked with guarding this super hot international banker but it involves breaking the law. HMM?? You'll have to read the book to find out but it is well worth reading. Lots of action of all kinds! LOL! And twists and turns that you just don't see coming. Really good read!

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

WOW! This was quite a ride! The whole world's good guys and even some not so good guys band together to take down a religious terrorist group and in the middle of it all is Canine Cop Helen Marx and her trusty companion, Lanza. Lanza is almost killed in the very beginning of the book and meets Marco, a sexy Italian opera singer. His teenage daughter is unwittingly involved with some of the terrorists and Helen is tasked with posing as Marco's girlfriend to get close to them. Thus begins the seduction of guilt. It is a beautiful love story intertwined with a huge thriller that you just can't put down. Excellent read except that it had to end! Don't you just hate when that happens?

REVIEW: “What she needed was a red line. How far would she go to stick with him?” The seduction of wealth is not the only seduction happening. Kaitlyn is tossed into heart-pounding situations with hardly any of the intel she needs. Randolph wants her but can’t share what is really going on. Really enjoyed the twists and turns as Kaitlyn grapples with her sense of right and wrong. The chemistry between Randolph and Kaitlyn is hot and the plot holds some surprises. Well worth the time to read this. The British colloquialisms add to the humor. This is my voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: What would you do if your bosses told you to break the law? How far would you go before you questioned them? What if you’re a cop and your bosses are the law?

London traffic cop Kaitlyn Thorn narrowly escapes a Mafia attack on the world-dominating banker Randolph Quinn, a key witness under her protection. Someone on the inside has gone bad and betrayed her location. With orders to keep him alive at all costs, she has to run from her own team and gamble on nothing but her own instincts.

Alone with this sexy and powerful man, her desire to know him in every way begins to dictate her actions. They want her to stay close to him, but just how far can she go before her passion clouds her judgement? If she loves him will she be able to betray and turn him in, as she surely must?

United with Randolph in all-or-nothing danger, she abandons herself to moments of pleasure, knowing every delicious second could be her last. Can she really trust their love? As risks escalate she must demonstrate her courage and skill but will it be enough to save them both from destruction?½

Bright and fun, this set has it all – strong women, charming men, suspense, humor, and steamy heat. For this American, the British colloquialisms were sometimes odd but quite entertaining. Tense moments were lightened with witty repartee between the characters. I loved the links that took you to the recipe and right back to the story. Overall, a delightful introduction to this fine author. This is my voluntary review of an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

There was potential, but the author was not objective. It would have been better (IMHO) to let the reader draw conclusions.

The QR codes definitely detracted from the story.

Alf The Workshop Dog by Emma Calin
Won this book via a giveaway at Library Thing and was always fascinated with the creature we used to watch on TV every week.
We even have a hand puppet of the creature in the living room.
Pictures throughout the book along with QR codes to help tell the story of the little boy whose father and mother were king and queen of the land.
He tries to live up to what his father expects and sometimes doesn't always follow the lead and that lands him in trouble.
When the king dies he must return to rule the lands and with his dog they can do anything. He has gone through a lot and knows how he wants to run the land.
Lots of QR codes about free things to get and other information. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
Enjoyed the book more than I realized as it's similar to Robin Hood times, being in the forest and ruling the lands.
I received this book from Library Thing via the author in exchange for my honest review.

Do you like romantic novels? I am not a regular reader of steamy, hot romantic novels to say the least. This is a series of books that after reading just one, I'd love to read all of them! If you are not into erotica type novels than this one is not one for your reading genre list. I only spent one day divulged into this wonderful read and now I am addicted to what the author offers to its readers. She has humor, wit, and romance, women leading role, detective, cop, crime, mystery, investigation and so much more. Talk about a book I could not put down! What I can say for sure is this book is for mature audiences only and it is not for individuals under the age of eighteen. Shannon and Spencer are great characters whom are at the opposite ends of life. She is a cop and he is a very wealthy man. What shocked me was the fast romance despite Shannon being new to the town as a police officer. I enjoyed Shannon and Spencer’s relationship as it develops. What caught my eye most was that Spencer has a teenage boy who was in a boarding school until his mother died suddenly and then Spencer decides to keep his boy close at home. I have attending boarding school as a female, and the decision to keep him home was not something I would of done as a parent. Teens are very easily influenced and it would have been better if Ben stayed away because the story uses Ben as a bad character when Ben is innocent. But you need to read it to find out why. If I have to say one bad thing it would be that I did not like the British humor. © 2014 by Jackie Paulson All Rights Reserved

A steamy romance with a well thought out plot and totally likeable characters. Anna falls for Freddie La Salle. When she met him, she had no idea he was a famous boxer, but soon finds out when her department launches an investigation into illegal betting. The prime suspect? Freddie! All bets on! Or is it cuff and protect?! Anna has one heck of a dilemma, plenty of conflict, but will love cloud her judgment or will she stay on task and hold true to her obligations as a cop? A knockout passionate ringside romance that will pull you in and have you begging for more! If you like happy trails ... oh wait. I mean tales, then bite into this treat of a read.
