This book is an introduction on how to use GPS devices for navigation in the wilderness or on water. It provides a good overview of GPS technology (the good and the bad) as well as basic navigation and map-reading. Finally, it includes points to consider before purchasing a device.

The weakness of the book is also its strength. It is focused on using GPS for exploring off-the-beaten track and offers only a weak sense of how such devices can be used together with well-marked trails like those here in Europe. Finally, the book has become somewhat outdated.… (más)
