Dorie Brunner

A charming story of two women who paddled the Mississippi River from Bemidji, Minnesota, to New Orleans in 1960, along with a cat they rescued from a muddy bank they named Stinky. It's an interesting look back in time when the river was dirtier and arguably more dangerous. They found inventive ways to keep their trip going, dodging potentially serious trouble with a little luck and ingenuity and knowing when to ask for help. A good read.
