A Deadly Game por Gayle Brown

A Deadly Game had a bit of a slow start. Took me several chapters to get into it. Seemed repetitive and lots of info that wasn't really needed. Honestly I didn't get into it until Chapter 37. After that it was good but I don't think I would've stuck with it if I didn't have a review to write.
Nicole's character was a little annoying. She was all over the place. The ending wasn't what I expected.

What a ride! What a mother will do for her child can be amazing. Kept me guessing!

I enjoyed this mystery, and found it to be a page-turner, hard to put away for the night. The plot kept me guessing as to whodunit and my guess about whodunit changed as the story progressed.
Oddly, perhaps, I didn't like any of the characters and the frequent references to/scenes about sex between the main husband and wife were off-putting for some reason. I enjoyed the writing style putting the action and relationships forward rather than focusing on extraneous description or making things too complicated in order to mislead the reader. However, the exception to that was the very end. I would have liked it better without the final reveal, which didn't seem necessary and pushed the story a bit beyond believable.

I enjoyed the plot and found myself eager to solve the mystery. The characters were very hard to connect with. The main character, Nicole, made a lot of strange decisions. Emotions seemed out of place or over the top from all the characters. Regardless, the story was still good and I would still recommend the book.
