Stephen Briseño

This book would be good for primary students. This book is "The Notebook Keeper" written by Stephen Briseno, illustrated by Magdalena Mora, and published in 2022. This book is about a young girl name Noemi and her mama and they are trying to immigrate to the United States but they have to add their number to a list of numbers and then they have to patiently wait for weeks in darkness and despair while they wait for their number to be called. A stranger shows them kindness and gives them hope while they wait. I think this would be a good book to teach about how difficult it is to immigrate and how scary it can be, but that kindness goes a long way. I think this has a good lesson that kindness can change someone' s entire outlook on life so to always be kind to others even when you are in despair yourself.… (más)
