A novel of the fourth Doctor and Leela. In this one the Tardis deposits the Doctor and Leela at the University of East Wessex possibly in the 1990s. The university has a Dept of Parapsychology that has had unusual success with a small group of students. Some of those students are murdered and the Doctor decides to fix the situation.
I disliked the portrayal of Leela as a sulky and unhappy woman who whines because the Doctor is ignoring her or makes wild accusations about him being allied with the Tesh.

This book took me a while to get into and at one point considered not finishing it (hence the low rating) but being a stubborn reader I pushed through.

I wasn’t too keen on the ending that the Doctor blew up the SASV1 robot

This one deserves a re-read since it got a little confusing at times. We see a good deal of Leela showing her skills as a warrior along with an uncanny ability to almost out-think the Doctor himself in a lot of circumstances. Leela's always a joy to watch and she really shows what she can do here, both physically and mentally.

I got a little lost amongst some of the explanations as to exactly how some of the technology worked from time to time but that's where I think the re-read would come in handy. Also, the story seems to jump about a fair amount and again, a re-read would prove very helpful in bringing things into sharper relief.

I liked the focus on Leela and felt I'd been given a chance to get to know her much better.

Recommended. May do a re-read sometime soon.

Police on the moon and in space. A much underrated and wonderful sci-fi series from the 1980s. Sadly, only 9 episodes were produced. Well-worth watching.
