In book one in the Seal Team Phantom series, Alexa Gordon survives a brutal attack and is trying to get her life back together. After she’s rescued from her violent ex-boyfriend, she becomes a prisoner at a military compound and forced to become a solider. Then the compound is raided and an elite Seal team rescues her.
Kai Swift doesn’t know if he can trust Alexa. He and his men are searching for Jase, their former teammate who had betrayed them a few years earlier, and he thinks Alexa is connected to Jase. Then someone targets Alexa, and it’s up to Kai to keep her safe.
Alexa and Kai are interesting characters. She’s been through hell and come out stronger for it. He’s a yummy badass who will do anything to take care of his team. Their romance was super hot.
Though I liked the overall plot, I found it difficult to keep track of who was who since there were so many characters. Description and detail were sparse in a few places, and there was some grammar issues, so I had to reread to figure out what was going on. There were also some unanswered questions, but at least the end wrapped up the major plot points.

This sucked. The plot was thin and confusing, the characters were flat and the romance was lame. And it was extremely long for a book I wasn't enjoying to start with. I've read the first two of the Iron Wolves MC - and frankly only because I bought those two and this one at the same time based on the blurb - they sounded good. I tortured myself through the other two and now this one.

The paranormal aspects for the other two books are glossed over in this one, but the story doesn't really make sense without having read it. This book also fails to explain who the hell Jase Taylor is and why he's relevant at all. But then it doesn't even explain the parts that are central to this novel - it's speculated but never confirmed - is Marley actually involved with her parents? What was explained was her parents but not until the very end - and not very believably. They have money and connections but can't figure out how to pay a guy they owe money back? Plus what the hell was the training camp about? And ma'am? That was never explained either. Unless it was in the Iron Wolves books in which case I can't remember.

The backstory of Alexa is also just info dumped into the first 30 pages. She's being attacked. Then bam in the hospital. Three months later. The following day. Then weeks later? The last one I'm not sure about. The others were signposted. The writing was clumsy and abrupt and without the signposts I would've been lost. Of course, then the author stops using them and I was lost so hooray for signposts.

Alexa and Kai exchange half a dozen words I reckon. Maybe that's an exaggeration but they have very little conversation and generally don't really get to know one another. The other things I know about Kai from this book are that he's part of a military operation. He's Polynesian, can do the Haka and I assume he has a family. Parents? Likely. Siblings? No clue. The below is about the only exchange of a personal nature they have.

“What do you want to talk about?” He’d dated plenty, was actually good at drivel and shit. “Where are you from originally?” She asked. “My family originated from New Zealand, but I was born in Hawaii. I’m Polynesian if you hadn’t guessed.” She turned to look at him. “Can you do the haka dance?” He raised his eyebrows, shocked she knew what it was. “You a Rugby fan?” Nodding, she licked her lips. “I love to watch the All Blacks.” Her actions made his cock jump, but her words made him smile. “The haka is the ancestral war cry, dance or challenge of the Maori people of New Zealand. The All Blacks are my favorite team as well. I love to watch them perform it before each game. Many New Zealand teams do it and other teams all over have begun doing it as well.” “Can you do it? The haka dance like them?” Her eyes sparkled. Kai laughed. “It would be a matter of dishonor had I not learned it. My family is very big on tradition.”

Boon, Elle. Delta Salvation (SEAL Team Phantom Series, Book 1) . Elle Boon. Kindle Edition.

Oh and he's obviously scared of commitment (to be fair, that one is pretty common in romances) because every time there's an inkling of permanency - jokes or otherwise he's breaking into a cold sweat. Of course, no idea why either of them want to be permanent - they don't know each.

And all that annoyed the crap out of me but this scene took the cake.

She looked down. “You didn’t wear a condom?” “I’m playing for keeps. I wanted to prove to you this isn’t a ploy, or some bullshit game. A man only makes love to the woman he wants forever without one.” Naked honesty met her stare. “I’m on the shot.” He shrugged massive shoulders. “Come on. Let’s go before they begin pounding on the door.” Kai held his hand out, knowing she’d follow him anywhere.

Boon, Elle. Delta Salvation (SEAL Team Phantom Series, Book 1) . Elle Boon. Kindle Edition.

Are you freaking kidding me? This was either clumsily written or just plain stupid. Perhaps the author was trying to weave in a nice message about the importance of wearing condoms for STDs and that you should only not use a condom when you're 100% sure about the person. I mean it doesn't sound remotely realistic because these two have never even spoken about their sexual history but sure. But the following lines; "I'm on the shot." He shrugged. He freaking shrugged? If you haven't spoken about birth control (whether for or against) you should use a freaking condom. I will be fair - it's not only a man's responsibility. It was her responsibility too - she should've made sure he wore one. But to purposefully ditch a condom to prove a point - to prove that you're for reals? For fks sake. That's not a mature responsible decision - that's just plain stupid. This scene made me uncomfortable and mad and angry.

And I would say it ruined the book but frankly the book sucked anyway. I've finally finished all previously bought Elle Boon books and now will happily shelve further books as not interested.

This was alright. About what you'd expect from this type of book. Instalove, lots of sex and very little plot. The characters are pretty immature - the girls read as if they're fifteen year olds playing grown ups (that or I'm getting old) and the language is crass. I didn't like Xan. And I didn't really like Breezy. I mainly just wanted to hit them all over the head for their stupidity. 1.5 stars.

Good overarching story line. I can't give it more than 3 stars, as the d/s talk, spanking talk, etc really ruin the sex part.

I'd say thats a comment for each of this series.

Dai-Tai was sold by her family to the government and was slated to be cut up as an organ donor until an American doctor helped her escape to America, where he sold her to be used at the whims of whomever bought her.

Cosmos Luciano's father was a crime boss and a sick pedophile that shared his one with other members of a secret pedophile group. He was abused and raped until the day he killed one of his abusers and then killed his father. He's systemically hunted down and killed everyone in the ring and is part of an MC that has a similar mission.

This book is not always an easy read as it deals with human trafficking and sexual abuse. It doesn't shy away from trauma these two endured and the way Cosmos helped Dai-Tai was deeply touching as he knew what she needed to feel safe again.

Sweet, hot and brutal MC read.

This novella introduces the paranormal romance series Mystic Wolves. Werewolves are obvious from the title, but we learn the rules the wolves live under, that fae exist, and many other little details to flesh out the world nicely. Things come up in context, too, whether because Cora, our turned human newcomer, asks, or they interact with the element.

I fell in love with Cora from the first time I met her. She’s quick thinking, willing to take a risk to help an animal in trouble, and doesn’t sit back and wait for things to happen to her. It’s not that she’s reckless. Just an active participant in her life.

Zayn was a little more complicated in part because we knew him too well. He understands what’s going on and tries to run from it. At the same time, he wants to do the right thing, an important characteristic, but it’s out of obligation, not character. Okay, it’s half out of fear, too. He doesn’t want to have such a deep bond, but the instinct driving them is hard to resist. His interactions with his nephew are endearing, and how he treats his brother and the other wolves is important, too. These give us a broad picture of him. The relationship situation might be straightforward, but the characters and their situations are far from single note.

Though lust is front and center throughout the beginning, it’s also restrained. I like how Zayn holds back so he doesn’t take advantage of Cora when she’s under an influence she can’t understand. Still, the book might start out all talk and no action, but it doesn’t stay that way for long.

Their romance moves quickly, jumping from first meeting to full intimacy in a few short scenes. This works with fated mates for me because instincts deeper than their consciousness drive them. The wolves have recognized each other, but it takes a bit for the human side of Cora to catch up. Zayn knows what is going on from having seen it in others, including his brother and alpha.

The intimate descriptions, once Zayn stops fighting it, are detailed, but far from mechanical. The humor and their personalities stretch into the most intense of moments.

This story is full of humorous moments, though what do you expect when the story starts with a human accidentally turned by a wolf cub? Then she finds her soul mate while in heat from the beginning of her transformation. The writing becomes awkward at times, but never enough to turn me off when the narrative voice and spot on humor kept me reading.

Don’t think this is all lust, though. The story has depth beyond the romance, both from Cora’s traumatic history and what is happening right now. We meet Cora when she finds a wolf cub caught in a brutal trap designed for an adult. She doesn’t blame him when he bites her out of fear and pain, nor does she know the consequences of that bite until later. The effects become obvious almost immediately, throwing us right into the mix with her fated mate. The trap isn’t a throwaway item, though. It’s part of the greater plot with more for Cora and the wolf pack to deal with before the Cora and Zayn find their happily ever after.

The story has the elements of a romantic thriller, with some scary moments. But the focus is more on the romance than the grim times, and a real dose of humor tips the balance most of the time. That’s not to say the novella doesn’t have a definite dark side, so be prepared. Still, it focuses on finding your person and giving them the space to decide if they feel the same whatever you feel. I loved how Zayn could be a full masculine alpha (not literally as that’s his brother) and considerate at the same time. It’s rare to see that blend of strength without arrogance work so well. I’ve added the next two full-length books to my TBR pile, as if I didn’t have enough to read already.

P.S. I received this novella as a newsletter gift and reviewed it on my own.

Um...yawn. Hot sex, but more explicit than I enjoy. The setting could be interesting - I love werewolf stories - but there's so many holes in it I couldn't get drawn in. Lyric is not allowed to do...a lot of things - is that because she's a werewolf, a female werewolf, a member of this pack, her brother's sister...and if the last, she swallows it awfully easily (including her brother and the alpha tomcatting around while she's not allow to show skin). Then she breaks all the rules, but it's solvable - so apparently any wolf can Change someone but only the Alpha can help them through their first shift? That doesn't make a lot of sense. Then...the alpha can read anyone's mind, but he apparently never noticed the rebellion going on under his nose. The villain is entirely cardboard - "an alpha with no sense of morality"...huh? Come on, actual people have actual reasons, only cardboard puppets go around attacking people just because. The kids he sent to scout had more personality than he did. Not a winner.½

This book was disappointing. Very cliched, a fast and shallow relationship, trite writing and very bad editing.

I think Lyric is my favorite badass heroine to date. Rowan, need I say more… he is just the right amount of sexy, badass, but still willing to accept help. Lyric, so much to say about her, she has an overprotective brother, an equally overprotective but more understanding Alpha, and some of the best friends a girl can have. I love how everyone underestimates her because of her size, but they all seem to acknowledge that she isn’t a little girl anymore. Rowan meets her in the bar and while trying to be chivalrous, ends up a bitten. What comes after is amazing. The way Lyric takes it upon herself to make it right, the way Rowan does or doesn’t fit in with the pack, and the traitors in their midst. It makes for a page turner, just like you would expect from Elle Boon!

Single dad and Alpha of the Mystic Wolves, Niall Malik, finds an injured woman in his territory that lost her memory. His Perfect Wolf by Elle Boon is a heartwarming story with a sole parent who lost his true mate to an accident. Niall is still young, but he did not think he would ever find happiness in a mate again. Alaina Strop sparks a romantic interest in him that he thought was long dead since the death of his mate. Having lost her memory, Alaina is obviously uncertain about many things, but she has a good intuition while struggling to remember her past. Roger Strop and Rickard are cruel and dangerous antiheros that are chauvinistic and easy to dislike. They add suspense to His Perfect Wolf. The story takes place in the Mystic, South Dakota in a current time setting.

I have been looking forward to reading Niall’s story ever since I read book one, Accidentally Wolf. Elle Boon has a fantastic writing style that I truly enjoy. Elle Boon does a commendable job describing the events and surroundings. Niall is a worthy hero. I like that Niall is a good leader and father. He is a compassionate and strong person that will protect what is his. Alaina Strop is a fascinating character. I admired her for leaving her pack and seeking a better life. She is a brave and likeable character. Many interesting twists happen throughout this story. Elle Boon did a fantastic job developing multiple conflicts throughout the story. Her character development is thorough. The action was nonstop beginning to end. His Perfect Wolf by Elle Boon is a great story for anyone who enjoys paranormal shape shifter romances.

Veterinarian Cora Welch is accidentally bitten by a young wolf she rescues from a trap. Zane Malik needs to make sure that Cora gets through the fever without receiving a second mark after the one his nephew gave her. The question is, will Zane be able to resist her even though he is not interested in a having a mate.

I like Cora. She handles the information she learns well. She is brave and likeable. Plus, I have respect for any fellow animal lover.

Zane is an entertaining hero. He is strong. I like that, he values his family. Once he sets his mind to it, he goes after what he wants.

Accidentally Wolf is a fun short story that is easy to finish in one sitting. It is well-written and feels complete. I have read a lot of shape shifter books, and this one felt unique.

This was the first book I read by Elle Boon. I would definitely pick up another one by her after reading Accidentally Wolf.
