I don't usually read thrillers, but I decided to try this one out because the synopsis sounded intriguing. I loved the premise of the book. Every time Claire found out something new about Kay, I was hit with a sense of satisfaction. No matter how close you think you are with someone, you'd be surprised by how much you don't actually know about them. I got a sick feeling of glee to see Claire slowly start to realize that, but I digress.

Apart from that, I wasn't really into the book to be quite honest. I didn't connect with any of the characters. It was pretty much a perfunctory experience for me. I didn't care what happened to them—whether any of the characters died or not, whether anyone got justice for their death or not, etc. I felt very detached from the whole story. It may have had a lot to do with the third-person narration, but I felt like I was just reading the book just to see if my guess was right or not—and it was. That's another thing. I'm not sure if it was just me, but I already knew what was going to happen about a little over halfway through the book and I was kind of disappointed that I was right.

All-in-all, I think this was a good book. The last 50 pages or so definitely had my full attention, I couldn't put it down. Maybe thrillers just aren't for me.… (más)
