Inspector Ronald Dodd and his wife Margaret are on a cruise so he can rest and relax. He has been asked by Scotland Yard to keep an eye on The Chain of Jewels, an heirloom necklace owned by Lord Dunsfield which is sailing on the same ship as they are. A few days into the cruise Margaret finds a body and the necklace does not seem to be real. Now, before they make port in Cannes, Inspector Dodd must find the killer and the real necklace. Can he do it?

I found the story slow. It does pick up during the investigation but not much. The mystery is fine. I think that with just over a day to solve the mystery, the story would be full on tension and suspicion, but it is not. I would also like it to go faster with more urgency in the investigation.

I like Inspector Dodd and Margaret as well as the secondary characters. I did not figure out who done it. Good thing I'm not a detective. I'd be kicked off the force. I got a slice of what Ronald and Margaret are like but it is a small slice as this may be part of a series but I'm not sure since I've had these books for 40 years. I'm not sure if I want to read more of it but I may if I have them in my boxes of books.… (más)
