Caught between a rapacious war lord and a highland laird, healer Aileanna has to look out for her own best interests as a talented healer. Should she stay with the evil man who has protected her for the past two years, or trust the highlander who treats her with the respect and deference she deserves?

I liked it. The characters were strong enough to hold my attention and their motives were believable. If you love a Scottish historical (as I do), this is worth the read.

Highland Memories by Willa Blair
Highland Talents #2

Loved it…absolutely and completely…loved this story! Even though horses take advantage of me…I love them and love animals and would LOVE to communicate with them as Lianna does with the animals she interacts with…and then…there are also other reasons ;)

What I Liked:
* The second chance romance even though there was that parental interfering that kept the couple apart
* Lianna: animal whisperer and healer, healer of others, communicates in ways others can’t with animals, from a strong family/clan, many siblings that might show up in future books of the series
* David: Fostered with Lianna’s family, introduced her early to passion and disappeared, never forgot her, sought help from his “foster” family when horses sickened…and he has a backstory to overcome to woo Lianna
* The illness in the horses…had to google the sycamore tree to find out what it can do…if you have horses…keep them away from sycamore trees!
* Bhaltair: if he is not married already…he deserves a book of his own
* Athdar & Brigh: superb horses
* Conall: abused but resilient hound
* Wondering about Lianna’s siblings…what was up with her brothers and will they and their sisters have books of their own?
* Lianna’s parents: protective, caring, wise, and intriguing
* That no animals, even if poisoned or tortured (poor pup) died in this book
* The idea that true love never dies
* That the mystery of who was poisoning the horses and why was found out before the end of the story
* Meeting a new-to-me author I would recommend to others

What I Didn’t Like:
* David’s father…not sure WHY he was as he was and did what he did…but…didn’t like him from what I read of him in this book
* Knowing that people can be twisted by circumstances to seek revenge and in so doing, create pain for others

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series/by this author? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Booksprout for the ARC – This is my honest review.

His Highland Heart by Willa Blair is a heart pounding and captivating Scottish Medieval Romance. "HIS HIGHLAND HEART" series is Book 1 in what definitely promises to be a magnificent series. Oh what a beginning!

This is the story of Euan Brodie and Muireall Munroe.

Shipwrecked in enemy territory, Euan fears the rest of his crew are lost at the bottom of the Moray Firth. He knows he must escape from the Ross Clan before he becomes a captive. Three Munro lasses, Muireall Munro, Ella Munro, and another of their friends, are taken from their home, by Ross raiders nearly a month ago. Two of the lasses have already been claimed by the Ross raiders as brides. However, not Muireall, she is determined to escape thier nightmare. Enter Euan, who will risk capture to save the fascinating and enchanting, Muireall, from the rising surf. Together, they embark on a mission to escape the hellish nightmare, that's happening in the Ross terriory. But, will they be able to resist their fierce attraction to each other? Will Euan still adore Muireall when her secret finally comes to light?

Well written story, with captivating characters and an intriguing storyline. Emotionally charged, with a wide range of emotions for the reader. I cried, was filled with angst for Euan,Muireall, and the others, but in the end some will find their happiness. Will the villains finally get what they deserve?

Once again, Ms. Blair has written a powerful Scottish Romance, with many twists and turns, secrets, the danger is palpable, the romance exciting with an unexpected but welcomed outcome. Ms. Blair never disappoints me. She is another of my favorite Scottish Historical Romance authors. I can't wait to read more from this mesmerizing and compelling series, Ella and Callum's story, "His Highland Love", which promises to be yet another high octane story. Callum is Euan's best friend, and one of the crew members to survive, on that fated voyage. Ella is Muireall's best friend and wishes to escape her ordeal from the Clan Ross.

Whew! "His Highland Heart" is definitely a keeper and a treasure! One I feel will be re-read again! Definitely a not to miss Scottish Historical Romance! Highly recommended!
Fans or Scottish Romance, Medieval Romance, uniquely written stories, and the power of friendships and finding a HEA, will definitely enjoy this masterfully written story. I know certainly did and am still reeling from the Muireall and Euan's story.
I received a complimentary copy.
