Dave Berg (1) (1920–2002)

I was fairly disappointed with this collection of Dave Berg cartoons. The humor is conventional, targeting things like family life, the generation gap, and the like. I guess since it was by a Mad artist, I was expecting more satire or parodies of current events or pop culture. Something a little weirder, basically.

Aside from the superior artwork, the strips were pretty much comparable to the gags you'll find in the Sunday funny pages.

I laughted myself to tears when I read this book for the sixth or seventh time over. Who knows, maybe I have a lousy timing for humor and manage to laugh at the wrong time at some little detail nobody else sees. But, this book is full of those details that make you think and laugh at yourself just for being you.
