Saskia Denman is introduced to an arrogant Sean Tallis, a Private Investigator, because there's a job listed. But Sean is caught at a bad time and Saskia doesn't want to work with Sean anyway. But she knows she's the best fit and she needs to get back into employment. Both are as stern as each other but they don't butt heads. They have a job to do, and with years under their belt they excel at what they can bring to the investigation. The writing at times is stiff but the book is a worthwhile read with a great twist to the story.

This is a story that alternates between two historical time periods, with interesting characters in each of the centuries (19th & 17th). The audio narration is excellent, and the details about witches and the biases that led to the injustices endured by those accused of witchcraft adds to the plot.
