A cute book that shows different ways to add to seven.

I appreciate this picture book because though it is an eye spy sort of book, which is great for working out the brain, it also doesn’t solely rely on that aspect. In Hide and Snake, there are also words accompanying each spread where the snake has found a new place to hide and these words give you clues as to where you may be finding the snake based on the adjective used for that environment. Furthermore, I love the different patterns throughout the artwork of the book and I love the movement of the book, it truly seems like the snake is slithering from the cover, across each of the pages, and onto the back of the book. Very cute book that does a great job of connecting illustration with words and purpose.

I realized just recently why I never used this book in storytime.

It's just not that great.

You want it to be. After all, the premise of how things are alike yet different. How we are all unique. These are good themes in life and to be taught via picture books. However.....it doesn't wow me.

That is also odd given that the author/illustrator does "LMNO Peas." That book is a hoot and half. If only the same could be said for this.

I love this book. It's so colorful, cheerful, and populated by darling little green peas. I think this is a perfect book to read with a child. There are so many things going on at once that the adult can discuss with the child. I like that different shades and hues of the color are shown, to help the child understand how the words generalizes.

Most of the pages focus one color, but that's never the only color. At one point on one of the blue pages, for example, there are various red things, and a beach ball with a red stripe. Once the child is getting the hang of the colors, the adult can point to the anomalous colors and ask the child what they are, or ask the child to point to something red. Of course, they also add to the charm of the pictures.

Most of the little verses end in "little green peas," but Kevin Baker switches the rhyme occasionally, to keep the readers on their toes, and introduce a little variation. I think that it might help children understand the concept of rhyming.

Meet the pea–the 1-2-3 Peas! Come along as they count from one to one hundred in this pea-filled board book that’s packed with bright, bold numbers and playful number-themed scenes. In English and Spanish.

I love the illustrations. The book tries to rhyme, but there is no cadence. The illustrations are what keep this book from being a complete mess.

It’s very apparent to me that I do not get why this book and its siblings are so popular. The illustrations are lovely, but one minute they are peas, then sprouts, back to peas, then to guys. It doesn’t follow a pattern of flow, and in all honesty, I thought the story was quite slow for so few words.

LMNO Peas is a short, sweet Pre K-K level concept book that teaches the alphabet and strengthens vocabulary. While there is no storyline, this book would be an excellent pairing for a lesson on the alphabet because it not only has characters climbing on a large model of each letter, but it also reinforces the Alphabetic Principle by expressing occupations/hobbies that match each letter. This allows for students to understand that these letters are not just letters; they have a meaning in the English language. Example: "We're judges and jugglers--we're kickers, kayakers, and some of us are kings." Scholastic Book Wizard has identified this book as having a PreK-K readability level, which makes sense since those are the ages that students are learning the alphabet and still feel excited about some LMNO Peas! 4/5.

This book engages young readers with brightly colored pages and silly drawings that highlights activities tied to each letter of the alphabet. It further pulls readers in by allowing them to be included in the overarching message of the book by starting each sentence with the word "We're...".

Count and add as you follow along the ducklings journey! The book went up to number 7. The book puts a fun twist on math. By rhyming, you are able to find all the ways the numbers relate!

This book is good to show how some may look very close to the same but there is no two alike.
