This story was okay. I loved the food focus, and connection to culture this way. I think could be a fun way to talk about the importance of food to students.

The books is great for Hispanic students to relate to. Especially during the holidays because that is when families usually have traditions that they make together. Students can bring in their own recipes and share with the class that them and their families do during the holidays.

Great story, but illustrations are weak.

A "Jack and the Beanstalk" tale of how Benito trades his cow for magic chili pepper seeds. An alright tale, but the difference in the Spanish and English texts made this sometimes a problem for practicing Spanish (which is why I read it).
