Easy, undemanding read set in Ashburton Devon, where "domestic goddess" Juno Browne stumbles on one of her clients dead and finds herself attracting unwanted attention.

Juno Browne ("with an e") is the embodiment of the 21st-century gig economy (though she'd never refer to herself that way) with her Domestic Goddess house-cleaning service, dog-walking clients, and the antique store she inherited unexpectedly. She also has a tendency to trip over dead bodies and have trouble find her wherever she goes. In the latest, Juno tries again to rent out the space above Old Nick's to improve cash flow. Her boyfriend--who I keep expecting to find is involved in something nefarious with the way he keeps canceling trips to see--is still working to save peat bogs for the environment, so Juno keeps an eye on his house (and he really shouldn't blame her if she happens to run into some trouble whilst doing so!). Full of the charming characters we've come to know, A Devon Night's Death kept me engaged until the end.....now I want the next one!

Thanks to Allison & Busby for access to a digital ARC via NetGalley.

A review I wrote in 2020:

Dead in Devon by Stephanie Austin

I seem to be reading my way through quite a few cosy crime novels during lockdown. This is the first in a new series by a debut author.
Juno Browne, self-styled ‘Domestic Goddess… No job too small’, earns a living cleaning,
gardening, dog walking and doing other domestic jobs for her clients in a small town in Devon.

But when old Mr Nickolai, owner of a closed up antiques shop in town, rings Juno one day, little
does she know that she will be pulled into an underworld of crime, deceit, theft and violence….
Juno soon finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation… and also learning quite a lot
about antiques along the way.

Highly recommended light crime read, especially for anyone interested in antiques too.

Even though I skipped through large parts of the descriptive bits, Juno is such a likeable character I'll be reading more in this series.
