This book appears to have been written by James Glas Bertram who, under another pseudonym, Rev. William Cooper, published the classic text "History of the Rod."
I have set out all the relevant details in "Sandeman Scrapbook," pp.105-106, where I print his obituary from "The Athenaeum," issue dated 12 March, 1892. See also
"Index Librorum Prohibitorum" (Henry Spencer Ashbee) pp.305-311, and "Register" of Alfred Rose, item No. 189.
