Jane Annixter (1903–1996)

Jane Annixter, née Jane Levington Comfort, was born in Detroit, Michigan. Her father Will Levington was a writer who inspired in her a love of reading and writing from an early age. In 1920, she married Howard Allison Sturtzel, who wrote under the pen name Paul Annixter. Beginning in 1954, they wrote a number of books together, with Jane adopting her husband's pseudonym surname. She also wrote independently under her birth name. Most of the books the couple co-authored were children's and young adult stories with an emphasis on nature and wildlife.
