{My thoughts} – If you have a child that loves animals, they will probably fall in love with this book. The stories are some of interest and amazement. I always enjoy reading about animals and how their situations are positive as opposed to negative.

This book also allows children to learn some great things about animals. Some great things that they may not have already known. I highly recommend this book for any child that loves animals.

Whether training a dog to sit or teaching a cat to roll over, pet training involves teaching an animal to react to specific conditions. Most trainers use reinforcement such as a food treat to increase a behavior or punishment such a squirt of water to eliminate an undesirable behavior.

Read the recently published children's book series, then learn more at the websites:

National Geographic Kid’s TRAINING GUIDES series encourages readers to get to know their pets. FETCH! by Aubre Andrus and Gary Weitzman and POUNCE! by Tracey West and Gary Weitzman help children train their dog or cat.

YouTube pet training videos can supplement the experience. For instance, Zak George's Dog Training Revolution has nearly 3 million subscribers and Cat School has 10 million subscribers.

To learn more go to https://www.youtube.com/c/zakgeorge

I am actually a part time travel agent. I thought it had alot of good tips and useful information. I might even use a few that were mentioned when I am booking peoples vacation. I will definitely use this book in the future. I think it would be a fun way to get the kids involved in the planing and setting a plan for our vacations.

It got a 5 star thumbs up from my 15 year old daughter.

This is a brilliant book. Ideal for those who want to use more natural products on their skin and hair. This book is aimed at the ages 14-18. My daughter read it with me and she was thrilled. She tried many of the recipes and was very happy with the results. There are also excellent ideas for gifts as well as other projects to make at home.

It provided both mother and daughter many hours of fun and female bonding.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to experience this book.

I am naturally skeptical of books collecting recipes that can be found easily online, but Aubre Andrus has won me over. She has used her skills as a book editor and designer to present a coherent set of recipes and patterns aimed at the older teen, although, of course, spa recipes might appeal to people of any age.

The 80 recipes use a narrow range of ingredients, scents, and household items to produce skin scrubbers and softeners and accessories to help you enjoy them. Thus we have made-at-home hair gel, face masks, painted bobby pins, decorated ribbons, a turban hair wrap, foot scrubs, and a range of items made from knotted crew socks.

The book is designed in pastel pink and blue with lots of bows and ribbons but instead of being kitsch, I think it's cute.

I have two complaints about the discussion of essential oils, one of which is very important. Ms Andrus does not explain the difference between food grade, cosmetic grade, and common grade scents and essential oils. These are different products and the common or industrial scents (the kind used for candles or oil burners) are not interchangeable with cosmetic or food grade scents that you would use on your skin or lips.

My other complaint is that too few scent options are presented. Lavender is used in a number of these recipes and I would have liked to see an expanded range of ideas for those of us who can't stand lavender. For example, I make solid perfume using a recipe similar to the one in the book. It's great for travelling because it causes no fuss with TSA and I never have to worry about spillage. But I use my favorite commercial perfume instead of random essential oils. I also use a range of natural scents I get from suppliers in Nepal that go far beyond the lavender, orange, peppermint and tea tree (which is a kind of eucalyptus, think Vicks) that Ms Andrus suggests.

All in all this is a fun book that gave me some ideas. Who'd have thought that knotted socks could be so versatile?

I received a review copy of "Botanical Beauty: 80 Essential Recipes for Natural Spa Products" by Aubre Andrus (Capstone – Switch Press) through NetGalley.com.

The activities range from bead bins, colored coordination, clothing codes and decoders names just a few amazing math activities found in this jewel of a book. The American Girls bring math into a young girl’s world, explaining it in a creative fun way that brings the joy in math to any child. My granddaughter was not a fan of math; still isn’t UNLESS it’s American Girl Math! She loves the brain teasers and sock stock. The book brings about the feel of going shopping, deciding on what you like and which is best and how to account for it all..
This is again.. granddaughter approved!
I bought this book and have a feeling I shall be buying more.

This was a treasure to find. The book is fitting to the age it is designed for. The techniques teach more than basic art concepts and go a bit further allowing the child to actually be creative. The teachings aren't just for this book as it enables them to do the same exercises on plain pieces of paper or in a sketch pad. This book brings out the "you can do this, in a wonderful skilled way." The teachings relate to a young girl's world without baby talk but a voice that reaches them even at a young age. I absolutely love this book.

My granddaughter who is eight years old approved this book and wants more just like it. i bought this book to give as a gift.
