Madison MacDonald is back. Things at school have finally returned to normal for Madison now that the FriendVerse fiasco has been solved. Madison is out a best friend, but she now has an awesome boyfriend, Nate.

It's prom season, and Madison has found herself as Kittson's scapegoat in getting things done in time. It's the week before the prom and Madison is being pulled in every direction possible. She hardly has any time for Nate, and when they do get a moment together, a crisis always arises.

The most horrible crisis Madison could imagine happens. She is entrusted with delivering the school's infamous Hayes crown to the hotel for safekeeping for the prom. But her friend, Schuyler, for some unknown reason sneaks the crown from Madison and hands it over to Isabel, the rival school's prom planner.

Isabel lords it over Madison and her friends. She is giddy with joy, thinking she has finally gotten one up on them. But Madison and her friends come up with an elaborate plan to get the crown back. It helps that both schools have planned to hold their proms at the same hotel, on the same night. If everything goes as planned, Madison and friends may just be able to save the day.

WHAT'S YOUR STATUS? is another book in the TOP 8 series. Readers don't have to have read the first book to know what is happening in WHAT'S YOUR STATUS? This is strong enough to be a standalone story.

TOP 8 seemed to have more status updates and IMing going on, and I did miss that in WHAT'S YOUR STATUS? It's there, but not as frequently, I don't think. And to me, that was one of the most unique features of the original story. But beyond that one complaint, I enjoyed the intrigue and planning that Madison and her friends developed in this book. If you can suspend your belief that high school kids could pull off what they did to get the crown back, then WHAT'S YOUR STATUS? will be quite the treat for you. ( )

What's Your Status by Katie Finn is a novel which incorporates social media within it's pages. However, the social media has new names, Facebook is now Friendverse and Twitter is called StatusQ. There are some minor changes, but you get the gist. The center event of this event is prom. IDK I may be alone in this, but I thought prom was a whole lot of build up for a whole lot of average. Well, this prom is full of hijinks. Also, this is a rich kid prom, so it's like on TV, very elaborate and such. The main character, Madison is on the prom committee. She's the brains of the hijinks. She gets into quite a bit of trouble.

Well, I am ambivalent towards this book. It was an okay way to pass the time, but I can think of much better books to read. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't mindblowing. I think what my disdain stems from is that I could not relate to any of the characters.I thought it was weird that Madison's boyfriend goes by Nate even though his real name is Jonathon. Wait...what? It wasn't explained in this book, but maybe it was in the first. I suppose this goes on in rich kid hood, but not so in the dirrrrty upstate, not so. No alias for me.

One cool thing was that I was able to take this book into the pool with me and not mind. It was actually kind of nice to read in the water. ( )

I haven't read the first book in the series, Novel 8. So I went in not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with what I found! It was cute and fun and fluffy and just the perfect summer read. The social network talk in the beginning of each chapter kept me entertained. It is very much like twitter, so I found it easy to follow along with.

I enjoyed the main character, Madison. She is your average teen dealing with high school drama. I sympathized with her friend problems. I went through the same thing when I was in school. But I liked how Madison dealt with all her problems instead of sweeping them under the rug. Madison and her boyfriend, Nate were sweet together. The romance was great, but the best part of it was seeing a realistic teen relationship. What's Your St@tus? Also has some mystery and suspense added to the mix. Masidon is the head of the prom committee, and has her hands full with things going wrong. Everything blows up on prom night, and the characters have to work together with the help of Status Q (the Twitter in this book) to pull off a crazy heist. This part of the story reminded me of Heist Society by Ally Carter, which I enjoyed.

What's Your St@tus was like an ice cream sundae. Lots of sugary sweet goodness all put together in one place. If you like cute reads with some mystery added, What's Your St@tus will be right up your ally. ( )
