The charcoal drawings are nice and simple still showing the texture of the paper the originals were drawn on. The book is loosely divided into habitat sections with the poetry about the animals found in those habitats. The absolute best part of the book is at the end where the author explains in brief the form and inspiration of each poem. It is an exceptional feature. ( ) A collection of poems, each about animals, with the emphasis on their homes, categorized in sections of their individual and shared habitats. Behind the poems are explanations of the types of poems and figurative language that the author used for each poem. I thought the poems were delightful and great for an elementary classroom.
