I noticed that the heroine (rightfully) gets a lot of criticism in many of the reviews, but I was not crazy about the hero either. The heroine drove me crazy and I just could not like her. I had to force myself to finish the book just by praying that she would finally stop being so selfish. The only reason that I gave it 3 stars is because I laughed so hard during the scene at the table after Jannette's first attempt at cooking, especially the dogs reaction. Hilarious Regency Romance. High in the instep, Lady Jeannette is sent to her cousins' Irish estate, where she meets Darragh on the highway. A Lord and an architect, Darragh neglects to mention his lineage when he hauls Jeannette out of the coach mire...nor does he let he know when he's working on her cousin's house. They just keep trying to one-up each other..she to try to be the lady that she was, and him to bring her down a few pegs. Lady Jeannette Brantford is in disgrace because of the deception that she persuaded her twin sister into participating in. Her sister, Violet, is now the Duchess of Raebern, the position that Jeannette was supposed to have had, but she didn't want to marry the Duke. Now she's been banished to Ireland to live with rustic cousins. Jeannette, before even reaching her destination, meets Darragh O'Brien, a devilishly handsome man who thinks she's spoiled and self-centered. The interaction between these two characters and their antics is entertaining and thoroughly amusing. This is a delightful story with lots of ironies and 'be careful what you say...'s. I laughed out loud and marveled at the author's ability to keep the plot moving forward. This is the 2nd book narrated by Bianca Amato, and as with the first (The Wedding Trap, also by Ms. Warren), she did a marvelous job keeping the characters' voiced differently AND consistent between the books (NOT a common feat!). I would recommend this series to anyone wanting a fun, moving tale. I am looking forward to finding the last in this trilogy to read (which is actually the first book in the series!) from the public library. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
