Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:Your presence is requested at a wedding deception.

After orchestrating a scandalous high-society ruse, Lady Jeannette Brantford is banished from her familyâ??s estate in England and sent to live with boring elderly cousins in the Irish countryside. But Jeannetteâ??s exile is surprisingly eventful. En route to her dreaded destination, she encounters Darragh Oâ??Brien, a devilishly handsome architect who transforms Jeannetteâ??s punishment into a delicious whirlwind of wits, words, and undeniable passion.

Although no less than a duke could satisfy a lady of her status, Jeannette is unable to extinguish the burning desire she has for Darraghâ??s smoldering looks and sizzling kisses. Little does she know, her dashing Irishman is no commoner. Heâ??s the eleventh Earl of Mulhollandâ??and heâ??s thoroughly enjoying the irresistible game of hard-to-get. I noticed that the heroine (rightfully) gets a lot of criticism in many of the reviews, but I was not crazy about the hero either. He is rather arrogant and sure of himself in the beginning. Then he seems like a very nice and patient hero for awhile. I still liked him when he lied to the heroine (who had mellowed nicely by this point) during/after their wedding because she hadn't let him tell her about his title. But I felt he crossed the line into jerk-dom when he took her to the cottage, treated her like a servant, and insisted on coming to her bed every night. When he coerced her into telling him that she loved him, but did not ever tell her the same, that put me over the edge! They both were very stubborn, but he held that over her and that bothered me. I did like the ending when she was preparing to return to him in Ireland, but he had come to England to tell her he loved her and find a compromise. I give the ending a 3.5 or 4 star but the rest of the book was a 2 star for me. ( )

The heroine drove me crazy and I just could not like her. I had to force myself to finish the book just by praying that she would finally stop being so selfish.

The only reason that I gave it 3 stars is because I laughed so hard during the scene at the table after Jannette's first attempt at cooking, especially the dogs reaction. ( )

Hilarious Regency Romance. High in the instep, Lady Jeannette is sent to her cousins' Irish estate, where she meets Darragh on the highway. A Lord and an architect, Darragh neglects to mention his lineage when he hauls Jeannette out of the coach mire...nor does he let he know when he's working on her cousin's house. They just keep trying to one-up each other..she to try to be the lady that she was, and him to bring her down a few pegs. ( )

Lady Jeannette Brantford is in disgrace because of the deception that she persuaded her twin sister into participating in. Her sister, Violet, is now the Duchess of Raebern, the position that Jeannette was supposed to have had, but she didn't want to marry the Duke. Now she's been banished to Ireland to live with rustic cousins.

Jeannette, before even reaching her destination, meets Darragh O'Brien, a devilishly handsome man who thinks she's spoiled and self-centered. The interaction between these two characters and their antics is entertaining and thoroughly amusing. ( )

This is a delightful story with lots of ironies and 'be careful what you say...'s. I laughed out loud and marveled at the author's ability to keep the plot moving forward.
This is the 2nd book narrated by Bianca Amato, and as with the first (The Wedding Trap, also by Ms. Warren), she did a marvelous job keeping the characters' voiced differently AND consistent between the books (NOT a common feat!). I would recommend this series to anyone wanting a fun, moving tale. I am looking forward to finding the last in this trilogy to read (which is actually the first book in the series!) from the public library. ( )

With enduring love, to my father, Richard Frank Warren, Jr., a voracious reader, who never tired of learning. Wish you were her to share my adventures in publishing, to cheer me on and ask me about each and every detail along the way. I think you would have enjoyed the ride. I miss you, Daddy.
