I think that this was possibly one of the best books I've ever read. If you love chocolate I would highly recommend this book. Sandra Boynton is absolutely hilarious and I learned a lot about chocolate. It also made me quite hungry for chocolate. I would recommend reading this book while eating chocolate or with chocolate readily available for consumption upon completing the book. ( )

Doom. In the best of all possible ways. Doom. (Despite images of dogs who consumed chocolate - don't let your dog or cat do that) I adore this book. ( )

Had this book for years. Unfortunately, I can't remember anything about this book but I believe I gave it to chocaholic I worked with for years. She ate chocolate EVERY day and I thought this would be perfect for her. ( )

I know Sandra Boynton from her children's books and was delighted when I came across this title about chocolate which is described as being written, illustrated, and overresearched by the author. The original version was written in 1982, this version being rewritten in 2015. Fun facts, funny images, and humorous renderings makes this a quick and enjoyable read.

My favorite part is the introduction which is very funny including - the history of chocolate and how to pronounce it; the degrees of like; what is really meant by chocolate, and the difference between a gourmet, gourmand, and gourmoo.

"At the very least, a craft chocolate artisan has to be botanist-explorer-anthropologist-visionary- historian-ethnologist-linguist-sociologist-economist-diplomat-philosopher-accountant-
lunatic-negotiator-mechanic-inventor-chemist-designer-packager-merchandiser-promoter. (p38)

I also learned alot about how temperature affects chocolate making it sweat, bloom, melts, and burns. (p69)

I read this as I was identifying great books for LEARNING WITH CHOCOLATE (A Homeschool Curriculum for the Whole Family) -- I enjoyed the book but decided not to include it in the collection. I did go back and include the one section on page 69 that tells how temperature affect chocolate since I did not come across that topic in any other book. ( )

This fun little book takes a humorous look into our favorite food. Enjoyable and lightly informative. Best of all are the delightful illustrations - love those hippos! ( )
