( ) Sam McLean, his mom, dad, and sister Miranda move back to Ringwood, the small Ontario town where Mr. McLean grew up. They move into a small community known as Sleepy Hollow. While driving to their new home, Sam and his dad enounter some juveniles ghost riding; which is where you send a vehicle, such as a bicycle, down a hill without a rider. The bike almost causes a car accident, and Sam snaps several pictures of it. Sam is desperate to make new friends and he ends up spending time with Cody and Jason, two boys who are up to no good, AND the perpetrators of the ghost riding pranks. When Sam emails the pictures, he discovers something extremely strange; the bike in the picture is NOT the bike he saw. Instead, the photo shows a very old fashioned bike. What is going on, and why is his dad acting so strangely? Is Sleepy Hollow haunted, and if it is, what does the creature want with Sam? This was an okay read, but not as tightly constructed as I would have hoped. You don't ever find out why Sam was able to see the old bike, although you do find out what the old bike had to do with Sam's dad, and why HE sees it. 2011 Red Maple Award -- Shortlisted Fourteen-year-old Sam McLean is less than thrilled with the prospect of moving to a collection of old mansions on the northern fringe of a small town called Ringwood. A nobody at his old school, Sam is desperate to be accepted by the cool kids and latches on to Cody Barns, aka Maniac. Cody's claim to fame is performing wild stunts -- the crazier the better -- and posting them on his blog. When Sam reluctantly joins Cody and his sidekick, Javon, on their midnight ghost riding, a practice in which the driver and passenger climb onto the hood of their moving car and dance, something goes terribly wrong. Cody convinces Sam to flee the scene, leaving Javon for dead. But soon mysterious messages appear on Cody's blog and anonymous notes are slid into Sam's locker. As Sam struggles with his conscience, a haunting question remains: Who else knows the truth? No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
