Horton Hears A Who is one of the many Dr. Seuss books that takes a stance on a topic and teaches a valuable lesson: a lesson on acceptance of others and showing kids that all lives matter. During WWII, Dr. Seuss, like most of America, was horribly racist and spoke out against the Japanese. After the Hiroshima bombing, however, he felt horrible and wrote this story as an apology. Fast forward to modern America, Prolife groups claim the book as a defense for their cause when in actuality Dr. Seuss spent years donating money to Planned Parenthood. ( )

A good story about an elephant who saves the world of the little people. He has to navigate his way against the other animals to prove the worthiness of the small people and that they really exist. Horton is busy is enjoying himself when he realizes small person by using his trunk to navigate where that speck goes on a "very soft clover." A kangaroo comes along on the way and looks down at the elephant and looks down at what he does say. Horton wants to save the small persons while the Kangaroo is careless and here is the antagonist of the story. Horton is now a rumor in his community (the jungle) because he is a very big animal while the speck is tiny. A monkey comes along and takes the little person away. The monkey gave it to a large field of clovers. The small persons finally proved their existence by making as much noise as they possibly could. A wonderful pop-up book for grades K-3. ( )

The small creatures who live on a speck of dust are threatened with destruction until the smallest Who of all helps convince Horton and his friends that Whos really exist. Horton takes responsibility to keep the Whos safe. I absolutely love pop up books. This one was on of my favorite. ( )

Horton the elephant one day discovers a community called Whoville. So he keeps it and protects Whoville while other animals like the kangaroo think he's crazy and she tries to ruin the lilly until she finally discover that a community does live there. ( )
