This gorgeous little book is a great introdution to early Christianity in Ireland. It describes how the Celtic way of life adapted to and influenced Christianity as it arrived on the island. Celtic Wisdom covers the lives of some of the influential early Christians, such as St. Patrick and Brigid, while also including information on topics such as prayer.

Overall, I thought this was a great book. I was a bit thrown when the author threw in some religious advice or guidance near the end, but that's because I'd been thinking of the book as a simple history, which it never claims to be. Celtic Wisdom has beautiful photographs and just enough information to make it a good introduction to the topic of Celtic Christianity (although if you are looking for in-depth information, you'll need some additional sources).

Celtic Wisdom is about how christaianity came to a mostly pagan Ireland. "Christians believe that God is in all things, not that all things are gods." It spotlights the saints of Ireland giving not only myths and legends associated with each saint but also true facts about them. Most of you might be like me and have only heard of St Patrick. I found it very interesting reading about the other saints that are apart of the Irish rich religious history and their everyday lifes. The stories are short and interesting. I loved the celtic prayers that are in the book and the stories about how they came about, what they represent, and how they are still used today.
I loved many things about this book from the size, the way the book was broken up, the Irish sayings/blessings that are found on top of some of the pages, and the beautiful photographs.
I found it to be a very interesting & beautiful little treasure of a book. ( )

This lovely little book could be considered an abridged version of the history of Irish Christianity. The pictures in the book are beautiful and printed on semi glossy paper. What I liked best was the inclusion of inspirational proverbs and sayings at the top of some pages. Overall a delightful little book, although I did knock off a half a point for a slightly loose binding on the copy I received.

I passed this book on to my boyfriend's Grandmother whose ancestors hail from county Cork in Ireland. She was delighted with the book as well! ( )
