I found “T is for Turkey” to be a good book for children in Kindergarten or younger. Teachers can use this book as an ABC book and a book for the Thanksgiving holiday. It is like killing two birds with one stone. I enjoyed the pattern of the language in this book. The author uses the alphabet to describe the Thanksgiving holiday. For example, “C is for Colonists. Our ship lost its way, so the Mayflower sailed into Cape Cod Bay.” It makes it predictable for kids what is coming next, which can be fun for them if they yell for the next sequential letter. The book is well-paced because it goes in sequential order of the alphabets, and this book can provide great vocabulary for the children. Each letter emphasizes a word, so teachers could use this book to expand students vocabulary. There are words such as educate, feast, massasoit, and zestful. The big idea of this book is to share elements of the Thanksgiving holiday. An ABC book for young children about the Thanksgiving Holiday. The book has rhyming and colorful illustrations that match each letter section. The addition of some advanced vocabulary (denial- I didn't even know the word) was a great addition. The story is about the beginnings of Thanksgiving and has some history base involved as well as some Thanksgiving lingo. I was impressed by the information provided even though the book for is for a review of the alphabet or just a fun book to read around Thanksgiving. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Personal Reaction: This was a cute book that I see myself reading to a kindergarten or pre-k class right before thanksgiving break.
Classroom extension:
1. I would ask the kids to make a list of things that reminded them of Thanksgiving.
2. After reading the book I would have the kids make a turkey with construction paper and a tracing of their hands.
