( ) This is a good example of realistic fiction because while this story does not exist in real life, the characters are believable and there are no talking animals or anything. The situation of visiting relatives that are much older than you is not a situation that is unrealistic. Sometimes younger children find the idea of visiting a much older relative somewhat intimidating, but once they get there and are treated with kindness and love, they find out that there is nothing to be afraid of after all and sometimes they cannot wait to go back. The people in the story are not all the same, some are younger and some are older. There is the neighbor boy that comes around later in the story and gets over his shyness, and then the mother who only appears in the beginning and end of the story. This story can help younger children relate to an experience of visiting relatives, and then in that way they can appreciate the next time they may have to visit someone or meet someone they don’t know. The plot in this story stays pretty much the same throughout the whole thing. The setting starts out when Abigail goes to visit her great aunt and she is talking to her mom about it. She gets a little bit nervous about it but then goes to her great aunts house and finds out that there are a lot of memories about her family there. She investigates her great aunt’s attic and memories and decides to play dress up old fashioned. Her mood changes when she likes the breakfast her great aunt makes, and she likes the clothes and letters and treasures she finds. The shy neighbor boy next door finally comes out to play with her and she finds out that her great aunt Lavinia isn’t as intimidating or scary as she thought, and when her mother comes to pick her up, she decides that she wants to go back again and that next time she wants to stay for a longer time. The plot unfolds quickly and the conflict of Abigail being nervous is quickly solved in one day. At the end of the story we are left with happy feelings about Abigail not being afraid any more. The media used in this book looks like it could be watercolor, like liquid watercolors maybe. Some colors are solid and some are somewhat transparent, like opaque. I think there could also definitely be some solid lines, like ink pens or markers, used as well because of the definition on each character’s face. I think the media used in this is a multi media type of artwork. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Abigail's reluctance to stay with great-aunt Lavinia fades as she plays with her great-grandmother's clothes, toys, and books. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
