I had a hard time rating this one. It kept my interest and moved right along. The action sequences were very well done. The romance however was nonexistent. They met briefly like 3 times then she is kidnapped. She had basically gotten away twice when he finds her and they run to a cave to hide and have wild sex for no apparent reason. Any peril should have had the hero and heroine dealing with it together. That's what makes it romantic suspense not just suspense.

There was no character development and what there was involved vague hints at things that had happened to them previously. There were no scenes where she thinks about him and how attracted to him she is or anything like that and barely any from his POV.

I also felt gypped out of the scene where she meets his family. But the last chapter picks up when she has been living with him for a month. The author tells us that they spent some time getting to know each other and he proposes.

There were WAY too many scenes from the 3 bad guy's points of view and the POV of the hero's father and the POV of the hero's stepmother. All of this page time would have been better used showing the hero and heroine falling in love. ( )

Good short story, is the way I look at these. Decent plot is a must and this series is quite good at it. 😊 ( )
