Twins Matt and Bibi, known for their extraordinary brownie baking skills, go to a pastry school while visiting Paris with their parents. Here they are given the special task of being in charge of liquid measurements for the class’s recipes. One day, the twins miss out on the class trip to the Eiffel Tower, but it turns out their services are needed at the school because the Inspector General is coming to sample the desserts. The twins must put their skills to the test to whip up an extra-special dessert.

According to the book flap, the author “hated math as a kid and now writes math stories to help children understand mathematical ideas more easily.” As a child, I also hated math and preferred reading as my main hobby (and let’s face it, this holds true as an adult), and I would have benefited from books like these (apparently this is the third book in a series although it is not necessary to read the other two to understand this one). In addition to the smattering of math concepts in the main text, the author includes a one-page note to teachers and parents, suggesting other fun activities that teach children about liquid measurement. The colorful, expressive illustrations are an added to bonus to this already excellent work. ( )
