Repetitive, predictable story lines and illustrations that match the text provide maximum support to the emergent reader. Engaging stories promote reading comprehension, and easy and fun activities on the inside back covers extend learning. Great for Reading First, Fluency, Vocabulary, Text Comprehension, and ESL/ELL! This book talks about all the aspects of a pumpkin that children can do to learn more about that specific pumpkin. They talk about measurement, and the weight. Also talks about the pumpkin floating in water. Then they talk about the fact that you can cut open a pumpkin, you can count the seeds and compare the amount of seeds in a small pumpkin to those of a large pumpkin. This book would be a great introduction to a sciences fair project. You can read this book at an introduction and then you can get a large, a medium and a small size pumpkin. Split the class into groups and cut the pumpkin open. Then they could count seeds and compare the number. This would make a great science fair project.
