There's a good sense of humor in this story, even with the time traveling bad guys making life difficult for The Ultimates (aka the Avengers). ( )

More of an U Iron Man novel then a general Ultimates novel. Friedman writes it like a Star Trek novel which adds a cool dynamic to the team. ( )

I had had no idea that novels like these existed until recently, so I was really excited to find that there were two based on the Ultimates. This one is set after the first volume of Millar's Ultimates ends.

The book wasn't that great. It was okay, and it did give me the Ultimates fix I was looking for, but the writing was rather bland and I didn't like how some of the characters were portrayed. The plot was also pretty transparent; it was pretty obvious from the start that the Tomorrow Men weren't all they said that they were. I would have liked better characterization and more depth to the story. I'm hoping the second Ultimates novel will be better. ( )
