This unique take on the traditional Little Red Riding Hood is about a tiger who is trying to persuade two sisters to let him into their home. This is a good second or third grade book.

This book, is similar to the Little Red Riding Hood fairly-tale book. It opens up on sisters that do not get along and one day there mom runs out to get food. While the mom is away, the children get a visiter, which makes them value each other more than ever.

An easy read for 1st and 2nd graders. This story talks about how siblings can still work together even if there is a sibling rivalry between them. Big Sister knew that 'Auntie' was really the Tiger but Little Sister was more focused on the 'special treats' that 'Auntie' brought them. Then when something really bad happened to Little Sister, Big Sister felt guilty and ashamed of herself. Then she fooled 'Auntie' Tiger and was able to save her sister. They then promised to care for each other and even surprised their mother. ( )

Based on the fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood, this is the modern Korean twist of the tale, which is set in China. Two Korean sisters, big sister and little sister, are left alone while their mom goes shopping. A tiger in disguise, similar to the big bad wolf, pretends to be their auntie and the little sister lets it come in. The big sister is suspicious because of his hands and deep voice, but little sister doesn't listen and the tiger ends up eating her. The big sister is able to trick the tiger and rescue the little sister. They put their differences aside when they explain what happened to their mom.
Highly detailed and bright illustrations. There are some things that might not be appropriate for young kids. Some images of the girl being eaten and the tiger being cut open may not be something that younger kids are prepared to read.
Recommended grades: k-3 ( )
