Rumpelstiltskin is a book about a poor man that boasts of his daughter's talent. Once he boasts to the king, though, his daughter is threatened with death if she can't spin the straw into gold.

This story is a lesson about exaggerating. It shows what can happen if you brag to someone. I think this is a great tale for kids of all ages to learn from.

This book I found very entertaining. It seemed to follow the original Grimm brothers story but with much softer illustrations that made the story seem a lot softer. Overall I enjoyed the book.

A miller trying to impress the king says his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king gives her a try, but she didn't really know how to do it. A little man came and said he could do it for her if she will give him something. The king was pleased, and gave her more straw to spin into gold, again the little man came and did it for her for a reward. The king was pleased again, and gave her a whole room of straw to spin into gold, and if she did he would marry her and if she didn't she would be killed. Again the man came, but she had nothing to give him for his work, he said he would do it for her first born child. She agreed, and the next day wed the king. After her child was born, the little man appeared again wanting the baby, but the queen refused. He said that if she could guess his name, he would not take the baby. She guessed every name she could think of, none worked. At the last moment one of the men she sent out to find his name came back with success, and the little man was furious.

This is the classic story of Rumpelstiltskin. The miller lies to the King about his beautiful daughter being capable of weaving straw into gold. The greedy king locks her in a tower and threatens her life, unless she produces gold. Rumpelstiltskin offers her help, for a price. ( )
