I personally liked the book's vocabulary use and would additionally include it in my classroom for the diagrams it provides. (ex: pg. 28:Interior of Mandan Earth Lodge). For all of these reasons, I would read it to grades 2nd-4th during social studies or include it in a lesson plan specific to Sacagawea. Who Was Sacagawea? by Judith Bloom Fradin is a very informative book! I did not realize that she was only 10 or 11 when she was traded to a frontiersman to be one of his Indian wives! She had been kidnapped from her tribe by another and that tribe just sold her at a young age! I don't think they told me this in school. There was a lot in here they didn't discuss. I wealth of knowledge in this book. I am glad I picked it up from the library. Wow, what a strong girl. Great book. Who was Sacagawea is an brief biography chapter book about Sacagawea. The book follows the chronological order of Sacagawea time with Lewis and Clark on the exploration of the west. Each chapter is short and easy to read and is accompanied by illustrations on majority of the pages. The central message of this story is to explain the important role Sacagawea had for the colonization of america and successes of Lewis and Clark.
