What it's really useful for is the planning stage, when you're sitting around throwing darts at the map and wondering whether a "visa" has anything to do with the credit card. It provides a general overview of what you need to start thinking about if you're serious about a travel year, and while there's certainly no info there that you can't hunt down for yourself on the internet, it's quicker and easier in book format. Reccomended for British citizens planning a trip, but if you live elsewhere, buy "The Big Trip."
