I loved using this as a kid, and now going into my last year in college, and possibly at home, I still love it. ( )

Summary:
This is an awesome step-by-step cookbook for children. It has a table of contents with not only words but pictures as well. Provides basic kitchen rules and etiquette, lesson page, and cook's tools. In the beginning of every different section, it shows all the different types of whatever is in that section. Such as, pasta with all the different shaped noodles with real pictures of what they look like and their names.

Personal Reaction:
I love love LOVE this cookbook for children! I have young nieces who love to cook with me, and this will be the perfect gift so that we can cook together! I love how it has actual pictures of the things that it is talking about and how it explains with pictures in order and words too. Such a great find!! So glad Mrs. White had it and shared it with the class! I will definitely be adding it to my collection very soon!!

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. This would be awesome to make and laminate copies of a few recipes and place them in your home living center for the children to look out/try to cook with.
2. After checking for allergies (of course) maybe find a simple recipe to make with the class as a whole, like fruit salad or fruit kabobs.
3. Have your students write or draw about a time that they have helped in the kitchen and then do a show and tell.

The Children’s Step by Step Cook book has many easy recipes for children to learn to follow direction by sight and by instructions. A very good thing to have in the classroom so you can have a lesson on following direction.

I can relate to this book because I LOVE to bake and cook. My 2 yr old is in the kitchen with me anytime I’m baking a cake or cookies. He loves to help me stir!

In the classroom, I can have a cooking lesson. They would learn to follow directions from reading the book and also the colorful pictures help too! ( )

This book is a great book with lots of great step-by-step recipes you could use in the classroom or at home.

I can relate to this book because I love to cook. I got several recipes from this book I will be trying out myself!

In the classroom I would have the children bring their favorite recipes. We would the make a "classroom" cookbook. We would make enough for everyone to take home their own cookbook. We would also vote on a favorite recipe in the book and make it in class for everyone to try.
