I'm falling in love with this book series by Jill C Wheeler. She's got the facts. This series is substantive but fun! For starters, holy cow! I did NOT remember that C.S. Lewis wrote "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe." Adding on to that, the C.S. stands for Clive Staples--what a name! He was born in Ireland, however, so it's probably a traditional name. C.S lived a long life of academia and writing. I highly recommend this book to young children, as it sheds light into C.S. Lewis's personal life and many good deeds. For example, his best friend died in combat while they were both at war. They promised one another to care for the other's family in case one dies, and the promise is kept.
Something else I appreciate about these books is that if a word isn't common, it's probably bold, meaning its definition is in the back--which is quite helpful because I had to reference something in a third grade book! Apparently a governess is essentially a nanny. The more ya know... ( )

This book tells the biography of C.S. Lewis. It explains the life he had, and the rough patched he went through, especially the death of his mother when he was on five years old. It tells of his education including the time he spent at Oxford, not only as a student, but also as professor. I did not know much about C.S. Lewis, and I did not know that he was the author of The Chronicles of Narnia. I found that interesting because I enjoyed the movies that were based on his books. I would recommend this to students who are interested in learning about different authors. ( )

C.S. Lewis was a notable author and poet. Mostly known for his box office hit, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," Lewis will always be remembered for his myths and fantasy novels. Ironically, Lewis never intended to become a children's book author. Because of his bold imagination and the subject matters he wrote about, children took a big interest in his work. Aside from being an author, Lewis was also poet. As an adult Lewis decided to retry his faith and believe in God. He wrote many books about the christian faith and became a popular speaker on the subject. This biography was very organized and well written but it was lacking in personality. There was not many quirky facts about Lewis that children could relate to. The majority of the book was important dates in his career. From a child's point of view, there were not many points in the book that would grab their attention and keep it for the remainder of the book. ( )

C.S. Lewis is a famous author who wrote things like Chronicles of Narnia series, which includes the very famous "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". This child's biography book gives a background of Lewis while being easy to understand so children can read it with ease. I really enjoyed reading this myself and learning things about Lewis. For example, I did not know that Lewis was a soldier in World War I.
I loved reading "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" when I was younger and I hope to teach Lewis' work to my future students. I ( )

Growing up, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was one of my most beloved books. This bibliography provided great background information on the author. For example, I had no idea he wrote stories as a child. He even played out imaginary games that included talking animals in a secret world. ( )
