I really thought this one was sweet. Animals such as kittens, birds, foxes, bunnies, puppies, mice, shrews, moles, assorted insects, etc. visit a baby born in a stable one winter night. It's not explicitly religious or stated to be Jesus, but I think most families and kids will make that connection as they read it.

The art work is so lovely and evocative of a sense of peace and quiet stillness. The animals are very cute - a lot of them are anthropomorphized (the mouse wears a coat, the kittens have mittens, even the spider wears a scarf, lol). Even the insects were cute as the author drew them - a spider, a ladybug, and a bee are among those who come to see the baby. Really lovely - a quiet, nice story. Perfect for a bedtime Christmas Eve story. ( )
