Sarah Palin, then 39, a hockey mom and former mayor of Wasilla, thought her dream of making a difference in the male-dominated realm of Alaska politics was over in 2004 when she clashed with the state chairman of her Republican party and fell out of favor with Gov. Frank Murkowski over issues related to ethics and openness in government. Yet, the former high school basketball star and one-time TV journalist could not shake the feeling that she was destined for something bigger. Two years later, she became a long-shot candidate for governor, promising openness and a higher ethical standard. Then, fate intervened. A very simple, very quick read about Sarah Palin. My impression was that it was written by her campaign staff or someone in the GOP to present her in the best light to the American people. ( )

Interesting background on Sarah Palin up through the beginning of her term as governor. ( )

First, let me say that this review has nothing to do with politics. With that out of the way let me just say the reason that I didn't like the book was that there was nothing there. I didn't learn anything about Sarah Palin that I hadn't heard from CNN, NPR or Fox News. Her life may indeed be as story book as this telling portrays it, although I doubt it seriously. I don't care how her high school basketball team did. This book was written almost as a fairy tale. This has nothing to do with how I feel about her politics, this was simply a book thrown together in this political season. I am not sure what purpose the author intended to serve, but I didn't get it, and wasted valuable time reading this "pamphlet". I am sure she is a great person, and a real person. Having lived in Alaska and been to Wasilla, I understand her background, however, this book wasn't worth the purchase price or the read to anyone that is at least minimally informed about this election.” ( )

Written by an Alaskan about a well liked state Governor. Interesting but not real insightful wish it may have been more in depth. ( )
