A colorful springtime tale of trust, patience, and waiting for one's time. Woodland creatures are concerned for a newborn fawn they believe is lost.

A book which explores a fawn's world living in the forest. This book personifies the animals and has them talk to each other throughout the book. This would be great for kindergarten-second, having children talk about where they think the fawn is after the book. It also is great for a lesson/lessons about animals and their habitats. ( )

This book follows a baby deer in the woods who is waiting for his mother to return. While he waits he meets many different animals. They talk to each other and he begins to learn many new things. However, he fears he might be lost and that his mother might not return. As he gains strength and size he begins roaming the woods. He is careful, however, not to stray too far in case his mom comes searching for him. At the end, his mother comes back for him and takes him with her to adventure and experience new things. The main message of this story is to listen and trust your mother when exploring the world around you. Exploring the world, allows you to learn new things and discover other living things. This lesson is seen through the key details of the baby deer’s interactions with others and his trust in his mother. The real-life pictures throughout the book exposes the reader to many new animals and the surrounding wildlife. In this book, the animals talk to each other like human-beings which make this a fantasy. ( )

This book is a tender and colorful photographic essay tale about trust, patience, and waiting for one's time. All the woodland creatures are concerned for a newborn fawn they believe is lost. The reader is delighted when the end of the book reveals the instinctive wisdom of the fawn's mother. ( )

Many people are unaware that a mother doe will leave her baby alone so it cannot be found by predators until it is able to run. This book tells a story about a "lost" deer in the hopes of informing more people so they don't try to take or "help" the baby. Great informative read with photos of real animals.
