Prophecy of the Flame is an action filled story that starts with the innocence of role-playing. However, Archmage Reba and her team find themselves whisked through space, and into a place unknown to the world they once knew. Forced to leave her husband behind, Reba finds she quickly becomes the talk of the town. Whispers of prophecy follow her every move as she now possess the powers her role-playing normal human counterpart once dreamed up. The same also goes for her new-found team that journeyed with her.

The Kingdom is under attack from demonic forces, and the group quickly learns that they were brought to this plane of existence by the King's Archmage. They needed help, quickly, or else all of mankind would fall to the evil knocking at their door. Will the team lead by Archmage Reba be able to thwart the invasion and restore peace? Does the Prophecy of the Flame hold true, or will it be the demise of the kingdom? You know you'll have to read the story to find out!

I love stories such as this. The author Lynn Hardy did a wondrous job at recreating the role-playing theme as well as a fantastic fantasy world. I found myself smiling as I turned each page as well as to many of the earthly references that we take for granted. The largest reference in particular occurs when Reba conjures herself a real toilet! Or perhaps the singing of one of my favorite childhood songs.

The poetry that is used for the spells is also a hoot. I really do wish magic was as simple! Her characters were well developed, and the plot is as solid as stone. There is much turmoil in the book besides the actual demonic invasion, and I felt it was wonderfully portrayed. For many women, this book will not only give you the satisfaction of a good story, but I think we can all find a relation to Archmage Reba. This of course is not to state the book is only for women, no, men too will find a deep love for this story. It really offers a little something for everyone, and I for certain will be reading the sequel as soon as possible! ( )

Kyle is married to Rebecca and he’s given her an interesting gift for their anniversary. It’s not something I would ever think of but it shows how thoughtful he is. He comes up with something that his wife would like to do. From there, Lynn has her characters going to an alternate universe.

I’m a reader of all things romance but I don’t feel that is a major part of this story. The fantasy and science fiction are more prevalent. But I actually think that this is a good thing. I’m a speed reader but I found that this was a book that I wanted to take my time to read. I haven’t felt like that about a book in a long while. It holds your attention from beginning to end. I loved seeing how strong of a character Rebecca is. It’s not all about the male taking care of the “little woman”.

I found it interesting that as I read about Rebecca and her group, I could relate this story to some of the things that I’ve seen in the news lately – some people are very good about hiding their true nature until it’s too late to get them any type of help. Lynn also has illustrations within the book which you don’t see too often. The only disappointment I had was that my Kindle is black and white – I would have loved to have seen the illustrations in color.

Lynn has me wondering if her story will ever be our reality in the future. And will I ever see that in my lifetime. You will have to read her book in order to find out what a great imagination she has. It must
have taken a lot of time and hard work to develop. It will also have you looking forward to reading book two. I look forward to seeing what else Lynn has in store for her readers.

Received from BTS Tours in exchange for an honest review. ( )

"In a blinding flash of light, five nondescript strangers are yanked from this world and thrust into a land of sorcery as they are granted the looks and abilities of the people they were playing. This band of wannabe heroes soon discovers that having the powers they have always dreamed of, does not make life a dream come true. The Crusaders of the Light struggle to form a cohesive band as they blend twentieth century technology with the supernatural powers of this new world, fighting to liberate the Kingdom of Cuthburan from the evil horde threatening humanity.

Battle is also raged within Reba, an ordinary housewife who has become the most powerful mage on the planet, as she struggles to remain true to her wedding vows. Drawn against her will to the arms of Prince Alexandros, Reba must choose between marriage to a handsome prince in a magical world, or returning to the husband she left behind." (excerpt from back cover)

In the novel, Prophecy of the Flame, written by Lynn Hardy my attention was immediately drawn into this wonderful storytelling of sorcery and magic!

I connected most definitely with the main character, Archmage Reba who has suddenly become the one the prophecy has described to save the Kingdom of Cuthburan and even possibly the human race on this planet. She is also caught between the prophecy claiming that the "flamed one" should marry the oldest royal prince, or has this prophecy been somehow manipulated over time to portray something more than what it is. Reba, Charles, Allinon, Jerik and Jamison are the main characters in the story who have been transported from their world to this new magical land with each having magical powers of their own to learn and master. Reba has been told of the coming war between another evil sorcerer and the demons he has unleashed into this land. Will the Prophecy hold true? Will the Crusaders of the Light triumph over evil and save the lands, nay the world? Then purchase The Prophecy of the Flame and read for yourself!

I was very pleased when I got into the first few chapters to have such a strong character development, plot and well written storyline. I cannot wait for the second book to come so I can read more of this series. Lynn Hardy has a great way of just plain old-fashioned good storytelling without having to over write, use long winded words, or over-dramatize the story. I like this kind of simple, yet powerful writing style that just gets you started on a journey you wish you could be in and not want to finish reading the last page.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars and would recommend this one to any and all Sci-Fi, mythology, magic and medieval lovers who want to be thrust into a great story that will keep them entertained for days.

Thank you Lynn Hardy for writing such a mesmerizing book!

I won this book as an Early Reviewer about a year ago, but I can't rate it yet because I still haven't finished it. Unfortunately, the writing is so bad that I haven't managed to read past chapter three. I feel really bad saying this, particularly because the story promised to be so entertaining. I enjoy a little bit of science-fiction, and can get my head around time travel, magic and mythical characters. However, at the same time I expect the characters and the plot to be realistic in their development. If they come across uncharted territory, meet potentially threatening enemies and have to deal with unfamiliar abilities and skills then I want to read about their struggles, their anxieties and apprehension in the beginning, before they get more confident with their surroundings and get the hang of the new situation - only then may they play superman / wonder woman and save the world Armageddon-style.

The first chapter of "Prophecy of the Flame" was engaging and I liked the role-playing action, but then suddenly, just as you get to know the people, they are propelled out of this world into some strange galaxy / planet/ universe / whatever. It would have been nice if the author had taken the time to set the stage more thoroughly, introduced us to the characters and allowed for some interaction among them before they are sent off on a dangerous mission. But what really vexed me every other sentence was how perfectly in control everyone was. The characters' magical proficiencies, which up to chapter two had been imaginary, suddenly not only become real, but also second nature. Magical spells are conjured easily, mostly because the language is as creative as a cooking recipe; the new arrivals act as teachers to the natives (slightly reminiscent of Avatar and America's Manifest Destiny...); magic is apparently encoded in people's DNA but we're not gonna call it DNA; and of course, all men got the hots for the female protagonist.

The plot just moves way too fast, before you know who is who in the story, everyone is engaged in a war. The reader is just plunged into the action and is given no time to familiarize him/herself with this new world. And all this in the first three chapters. I will edit this review as I read along, although it may take a while before I actually finish the book. Hopefully I am just overly critical and the writing will pick up in the next couple of chapters.

I didn’t read this book right away because judging from the first sentences, it depicts gaming ( online games only physically), which means I have to deal with sci-fi and much worst gaming. But to my regret, after a month when I continued reading, I find this as exciting as a roller coater ride.:)

Prophecy of the Flame by Lynn Hardy is about:

In a blinding flash of light, five nondescript strangers are yanked from this world and thrust into a land of sorcery as they are granted the looks and abilities of the people they were playing. Battle is also waged within Reba, an ordinary housewife who has become the most powerful mage on the planet, as she struggles to remain true to her wedding vows. Drawn against her will to the arms of Prince Alexandros, Reba must choose marriage to a handsome prince in a magical world or returning to the husband she left behind.

The book kinda reminds me of Harry Potter, only with demons and princes and princesses. The Archmage is present, a druid elf, a dwarf, a master healer and a prince charming.

I fell in love instantly with the story, I don’t know why, some magic-themed books are not just striking, but this one had me at my heels.:)

I enjoyed reading each chapters, and am always eager to read on and on, the suspense keeps me going and the actions and spells just add spice to it. My appreciation for the wonderful rhymes too. And Frog kissin’ would be a hit, if it’s really a song.
Mrs. Hardy poured out her imagination and her feelings too on this one, it’s filled with magic, actions, adventure, romance and camaraderie, and also faith too.

One of the best thing I’ve read in this is when, the temple’s priest ask Reba to pay homage to his god but she refuses claiming that she will never kneel nor pay worship to anyone unless it was God. I almost cried at this point: (I edited, this the conversation/ actual words said only.)

“It is required that all who enter pay respects to Andskoti.”
“My beliefs do not allow me to kneel to any god but mine.”
“B-but, it is required of all who enter, regardless of their beliefs.” “You must kneel in respect. No homage is expected, purely acknowledgment.”
“I am not a child of your world.” “I worship God. He doesn’t allow me to bend a knee to any other god, not even in the giving of respect or acknowledgment.”

In addition, the book is a romance type to, I can’t wait to know if Reba and Szames could blossom, or would Alex triumph over Reba?, much worse , what about her husband?

I honestly love everything about this, except the fact that Reba is married on earth dimension. But maybe something will happen on the next book. But as I would want to end the book, I really hope ,she would be with Szames.

The cover isn’t that appealing, though of course it should contain flames. But overall , a really good book.

The saga of Reba, Szames, and Alex continues in Book Two - Love's Price. ( )
