You probably know the story of Hansel and Gretel so I will not recap. But I love Meyer illustrations and Little Critter. The thing that makes this story perfect is the crow and his sarcastic quips. Perfect for any age. ( ) I liked this book for two reasons. First, the illustrations significantly enhance the story. The illustrations are vibrant and colorful. The illustrations also include flaps that have to be lifted to see what is behind it. For example, when Hansel and Gretel ring the doorbell, there is a flap to lift which shows the witch answering the joy. Lift-the-flap books are very engaging and entertaining to young readers, because they have something to manipulate each page. Second, the plot is well organized. A beginner or emergent readers could read and follow the plot of this story easily. The pages have little words, making the pages flow. Each page shares something new with the plot. For example, on one page the witch takes Hansel while he is sleeping. On the next page, Hansel is locked up in the dungeon. The big message of the story is to never speak to strangers without an adult. As a child I loved the Hansel and Gretel story and dreamed it would happen to my little brother and I. Reading this book brought back this memory and is one I wish to add my collection soon as the lift the flap makes the story even more fun and exciting. Also it will go great with all my other Little Critter books which I enjoy for the "hidden" pictures of Little Critter's pets. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
