In talking to other animals, he learns that his uniqueness is a necessary defense mechanism and that many other animals have a defense mechanism as well. This is a great story to read to a child who feels they don't quite fit in. I liked the book Sassafras by Audrey Penn for multiple reasons. One reason is that the animals in the story line portray very unique personalities and differences just as people do. While Sassafras, the skunk, felt betrayed because of his unique ‘difference’, he learned that he should accept himself for the way he is. When Gray Fox came around to the animal community, instead of being judged for his unique ‘physical traits’, Sassafras understood Gray Fox’s insecurity and invited him to play. This story plot is great to introduce to any age of students because it teaches a simple lesson and life virtue, “We are who we’re meant to be” just as Sassafras’s dad told him. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
