This book is about Thanksgiving. It says who the first people were that celebrated and why. It also gives information about how thanksgiving became a national holiday. It tells the reader what food they ate at the first Thanksgiving and compares it to what we eat now on this holiday.
Personal Reaction:
I really love this book because it talks about a holiday that most Americans celebrate. It gives little facts about the holiday that I did not even know, which I liked also.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. I would read this book right before Thanksgiving and have the students talk about what it was like at the very first Thanksgiving.
2. I would do an activity with this book after we read it. For example: making a paper turkey or making the hats the people wore during the very first Thanksgiving.
