I was a little surprised to find it takes place against the background of the Napoleonic Wars. I suppose a connoisseur of Prussian regiments would have realised that instantly from the title. As always with Fontane, the politics are hinted at rather than discussed openly. The notes helped, but a more thorough grounding in Prussian history is necessary to get the most out of the book. Still, interesting characters. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

(pagine 66 e 67)
