Part of the Frankenstein Horror Series published in 1972-73, The Curse of Quintana Roo is actually more of a pulp fantasy-adventure with some scary overtones than a straight horror novel. With its cornball storyline about a priceless treasure protected by an ancient Mayan curse, the book has an overt 1930s flavor and could have hitched a ride on the coattails of Raiders of the Lost Ark a decade later...but in the early '70s it was an anachronism. Not that there's anything wrong with old-fashioned pulp hokum providing it's well-written, and that's the trouble with The Curse of Quintana Roo: it's a real snoozefest. Like the other books in this series, its main attraction is a gorgeously gaudy cover by veteran comic artist Gray Morrow. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
