Jake Macgregor has his hands full. As San Francisco's leader of the Paranormal Special Forces unit, he and his team are facing a powerful enemy that threatens to bring down the city. With the weight of the world already resting on his broad, chiseled shoulders, the last thing Jake has time for is romance. So why--after a long, hard day's fight against evil--are his nights filled with dreams of Cassia? Cassia is a D'Anu witch whose birthright ensures power and honor beyond her imagination. It also forbids the one thing Cassia wants the most: the love of mortal Jake Macgregor. When she intervenes in a skirmish to save his life, the consequences are inescapable--even though the magic they make together is too luscious, and potent, to resist...… (más)

This was the last book in her Magic series. I think she had kind of moved on to her other series in the completion of this book. Cassie we find out is destined to become the next "Guardian" and to complete that process she has to have sex. Well her mother the current Guardian picked out a pure blooded Elve to fulfill this task. Someone Cassie has regarded as a friend. She's secretly lusted after human, Jake. There's all the Elven prejudice against humans and 'only a pure blood Elve' can survive taking her through the transition.

You just knew that some way would be found to get around this hurdle and of course they were going to get to have sex. Then the whole which one of the two non-hooked up D'Anu witches is the traitor? Hmmm....still not too hard to figure out.

I guess my whole dissatisfaction and why it was easy to put this book down and read others is that there was nothing to really keep you guessing and pull you along with the storyline. It's the last book, they're going to win against the big bad guy, she's going to get her man, everyone is going to get to live happily ever after. Except us with an unsatisfactory ending book to the series. ( )

Excitement, lust, and magical love... All categorize in one spot. Romance. Interested in those types? Then here's the book for you! :)
A fictioness love story by Cheyenne McCray, "Dark Magic" took place in a few places such as, San Fransisco, the elves' Otherworld, and L.A., when one day, Jake finds out that Cassia isn't human.

The narrator of this book is in third person position, and describes each and every feeling/emotion of the characters.
Cassia, an elvin woman that has fell in love with a human guy, named Jake. A masculine featured, angelically swole guy. But unfortunately, her mother and family have already chosen someone else for Cassia. Daire, a fine elvin man with true elvin blood. But Daire isn't the one...

In every story, there always has to be a conflict. Well the conflict here is that since Cassia isn't human, her rules are different. Her fmily chose her soulmate as Daire because he has 100% Elvin blood in him. Cassia has just gained her powers, and in order to complete the powers, she has to mate with an Elvin man as soon as possible. If she mates with Jake, not only will she lose her powers, but but she will cause all sorts of trouble in the Otherworld. Also, the chances of her true love Jake, will be fatal.

Cheyenne McCray did a phenomanal job with this novel, and every detail takes lures you into the book. This novel tells you, that when there's something you really love, you try everything to make it yours. According to what clue i just gave you, now you're probably assuming what's going to happen in this story of love and war. Dig in, and find out! :)

What an absolutely stunning conclusion Cheyenne McCray has penned for her ‘Magic’ series. “Dark Magic” is everything I would have wished for and couldn’t have imagined! This series has everything a paranormal fan could want: Dark Elves, Light Elves, witches, familiars, warlocks, gods, goddesses, shape-shifters, demons, warriors, humans, Dryads, Mistwalkers, and monsters. I probably left something or somebody out too! And did I forget to mention the male versions of the previous are mostly drop dead gorgeous, arrogantly Alpha, and just mouth-watering! Oh, and they seem to have a penchant for humans…OK witches, but still. I can always dream.

“Dark Magic” is Cassia’s story. In the last book she was finally revealed as fully Elven. Now we’ll learn if she has the grit to ‘get her man’, especially since her man is the human, Jake. She’s a lot older than she looks and the time has come for her to embrace her destiny. However, the Guardian warns her that having her human would likely kill Jake, upset the balance between the worlds, and destroy Otherworld Earth. No pressure here.

Jake has always been attracted to Cassia, but now that she’s no longer hiding herself, he can’t get her off his mind. When she saves his life and takes him to her world their relationship changes forever. His Marine nickname was Bull and Cassia is about to find out just how bullheaded he can be. As far as Jake is concerned, Cassia is HIS and no force on Earth or beyond will change that. He’s positive that nothing about anyone’s life is written in stone and destiny is what you are willing to fight for. But he’ll have to convince both Cassie and the Guardian to give this human a chance.

I can’t say enough good things about this series. McCray hooked me with “Forbidden Magic” and each book after that “Seduced by Magic”, “Wicked Magic” and “Shadow Magic” just increased my fascination as she detailed more of her intricate world and the plots became deeper and more intertwined. It would be possible to read “Dark Magic” as a stand alone story, but a reader wouldn’t get the breadth and depth of the series without starting at the first book and letting McCray’s universe unfold.

The series has action, romance, suspense, love, betrayal, sacrifice, magic, and sex appeal to the nth degree! Her heroines kick butt and run the gamut from feminine to tomboy and her heroes…well, they’re all 200% grade A male. YUM! Her love scenes left me breathless (and wanting a cigarette) and I’m surprised I have any nails left after the suspense in this last book. I can’t say much because I don’t want to give anything away for those who haven’t read the series (shame on you), but I can say wholeheartedly that if you like paranormal romance, you owe it to yourself to read “Dark Magic” at the very least. I predict you’ll become as big a fan of Cheyenne McCray just like me and a host of others out there if the reader/reviewer boards are at all accurate. Her next series is ‘Armed and Dangerous’ and the first book “Zack” will be released in December 2008. I’m locked and loaded. ( )
