Good for hyphenated verbs, onomatopoeia, repetition, and narrative verse. Outdoor nature noises are the focus. The illustrations are my favorite part. They look like a cross between David Catrow and Jack E. Davis with a little Tedd Arnold flair thrown in for good measure. Very amusing. ( )

This cool book deals with counting and with animals. The animals keep getting louder and louder throughout the night, and are keeping people awake. The number continues to grow as the story goes on, and it would keep the students very engaged. It is a fun book and a good read.

This book is about a large number of animals who keep ten campers from falling asleep in a tent. The animals that participate include owls, fish, geese, etc.

This book is great to incoporate into the classroom using counting and numbers. Students can also use repetition as the number of animals continues to grow. The animals refuse to be quiet at night, and the story goes on to add more and more commotion into the night. This story is cute and fun for young readers. It also has illustrations that really guide the story and has large print for readers to follow along.
